Unlike a visit to your local GP which is often done in 10 minutes, your first consultation will take anywhere between 1 - 1 1/2 hrs. I will need to know about your symptoms in great detail and will enquire about your past medical history, your diet, current medications & supplements, your sleep patterns, temperature sensitivities and much, much more. I would also perform a basic physical examination which includes things like your nail, tongue, iris and facial analysis for indications of deficiency as well as blood pressure, pulse and temperature etc.
As a homeopath and naturopath, I view your unique symptom expression as your body's language of 'dis-ease', which in my personal view is the body's ability to adapt to a particular/variety of stressors/disruptions. This will help me to develop a comprehensive picture of the nature of the ‘dis-ease’ in your system and will allow me to prescribe remedies aimed at the imbalance which is underlying your unique set of symptoms.
I may also suggest we request for a saliva, urine, food intolerance, stool or basic blood tests to help complement the case and ensure all aspects of your health are being considered and explored for an integrative management.
Follow-up consultations are even more important than the initial consultations and are aimed at assessing your response to the prescription & adjusting treatment if required in order to help restore you to an optimum level of health.
Treatment is thus highly individualised and uniquely prescribed based on your unique needs. Treatment may consist of a culmination of homeopathic remedies in pill, tablet or liquid form, herbal medicines (either in tablet, tincture or tea form), nutritional supplements as well as dietary and/or lifestyle advice.
Homeopathy is one of the most widely used forms of complementary/alternative medicine in the world and has been practiced for well over 200 years. Some of the philosophies of Homeopathy are dated back to as far as Hippocrates.
When treating a person who gets frequent colds for example, homeopathy aims to boost the immune system to speed up recovery as well as prevent them from catching colds in the future.
Homeopathy is a complete system of medicine that is entirely natural and can be applied successfully to majority of illnesses. It looks at the whole person, their health history and family history in order to find and treat the root cause of ill-health. Homeopathy allows the body to reach its optimal level of well-being in a totally natural and long lasting way.
I find homeopathy works particularly well in the realm of working on deeper emotional disturbances and root causes.
It is safe, effective, non-toxic and non-addictive for of medicine and can be used by all ages.
Homeopathic remedies are made from plant, animal and mineral sources and can be used instead of, or alongside conventional medicine
Naturopathy is a system of health care which promotes the body’s own self-healing mechanism. It uses a variety complementary modalities such as Nutrition, Herbal Medicine, Homeopathy, Fasting, Exercise and many others, all the while following basic Naturopathic principles. These principles are kept in mind when a Naturopath takes a case, develops the treatment plan and offers maintenance for long term sustained good health.
Homotoxicology (now known at Bioregulatory Systems Medicine) was developed in the 1950’s by the German Physician Dr. H. Reckeweg. It was developed out of a synthesis of the scientific understanding of how the body functions combined with advances in modern homeopathy in the treatment of illness.
Homotoxicology uses Low Dose Medicine in combination with dietary and lifestyle advice to re-establish optimal self-regulation within a person.
The three pillars of Homotoxicology are: detoxification and drainage; immune modulation; and cellular activation and organ strengthening.
Homotoxicology is outstanding amongst complementary medical practices for effectively detoxifying and eliminating toxins from the body via the connective tissue, the bowels, the liver, the lymph glands, the kidneys and/or the skin.
Like Homeopathy, Homotoxicology is a safe and effective method of medicine that is suitable for people of all ages, including babies. The remedies have been used continuously for over 50 years and scientifically tested (see Latest Research for more info).
Homeopathic injections given intramuscularly, subcutaneously or most commonly sub-dermally ( which is very superficial – just under the surface of the skin). These are sometimes given into trigger points, acupuncture points or just tender/painful areas. I do not inject into joints (intra-articular).
When the physical barrier of the skin is disrupted, this evokes an immediate immune and thus inflammatory response. I describe it like “waking up” the body, especially in chronic conditions or in cases where homeopathy has been used orally and there has not been enough of a shift. Often the system needs a bit of a nudge to 'kick start the engine'.
I frequently encounter manual therapists commenting on how their treatment does not seem to "hold" as long as they would expect. Often this has to do with tissue congestion or poor ECM (extracellular matrix) drainage which disrupts tissue blood supply, tissue oxygenation and thus tissue repair. I find Homeopathic mesotherapy very useful at ‘moving’ this congestion to help support the manual therapy in holding. Thus, this approach is a great adjunct which really complements other types of manual therapies one may be using such as massage, physiotherapy, chiropractics and osteopathy.
I prefer using homeopathics instead of steroids as steroid injections may have a host of complications.
Long-term side effects of steroid injections depend on the dose and how often you have them done.
With higher doses and frequent shots, potential side effects include:
It is very much so patient dependent, however a general guide is once weekly/fortnightly for between 8-10 sessions. Once you have been assessed however, I would suggest the likely treatment plan you would need. Often patients feel improvements after the first session, however I would urge one to continue for a few sessions longer despite the improvement as this is a crucial time where relapses can occur if the therapy is not maintained. The reason for this is that in chronic conditions, there is a need for extended support of this physiological response. If one withdraws too prematurely, the condition may potentially regress.
In chronic degenerative diseases (e.g. RA, OA), one may find after the acute treatment of 8-10 sessions (2 / month), there may be a need to maintain functionality where fortnightly or monthly injections may be needed as maintenance.
What would you expect as part of the treatment:
Your thorough case history will be taken, upon which the suitability of mesotherapy will be discussed and decided.
Very rarely would the injection administration be limited to one spot, there will be multiple locations (typically 6) around the affected area that would need treatment. This is all done during one treatment session.
Once we have together decided mesotherapy is a good option, we would use an alcohol-free swab to clean the area at the site of administration. The injections would be administered. You would have the option of choosing to apply Traumeel ointment over the site of the injections as this can help reduce bruising and infection in those instances of susceptibility.

How many sessions will I have to come for?
If you have had your health issue for some time, it is recommended to come for a minimum of 3-6 sessions over a 6 months period. This will allow you to see change on a monthly basis and give you the best chance of getting the improvement needed.
Will I see improvements immediately?
Sometime yes! Sometimes no. This tends to vary from person to person, but changes and improvements are usually seen between each session. Some people can see dramatic improvements in a very short period of time, and for others it can take slightly longer. This is hugely dependent on whether we are working on an acute / chronic case, and whether or not there are a number of concomitant symptoms.
Is it a problem if I am already taking conventional medicine?
All patients are required to inform us on the first consult as well as keep us continually informed of any conventional drugs or supplements they may be on. Having said that, Homeopathic remedies can be given alongside conventional treatment with no interactions. Herbs are slightly different, there are many interactions between herbs and pharmaceutical drugs and so in most cases I would not prescribe herbs if you are taking conventional drugs.
Is homeopathy / naturopathy / homotoxicology safe?
Yes, although some individuals may be incredibly sensitive to homeopathy, this is rather rare. One may sometimes anticipate a mild aggravation of symptoms (called the Herxheimer reaction / ‘healing crisis’), however I will always discuss this with you in the consult and adjust the prescription to lessen this response.
Do you give dietary advice?
Many people think they eat healthily, however some minor adjustments here and there can make a significant difference. I do not advocate any one particular diet plan despite many ‘floating’ around nowadays. We all have different metabolisms, and unique enzyme pathways so it’s a matter of finding a lifestyle that is both conducive to your health as well as sustainable in our current modern setting.
Are you registered with a professional body?
Yes, I am registered with the Association of Naturopathic Practitioners (ANP), General Council of Registered Naturopaths (GCRN) as well as the Society of Homotoxicologists (SoH).
Is the information I give confidential?
Absolutely! Novus Vita Health Ltd maintains a strict confidentiality practice.
